Penelope Jane, do you know how much you are already loved? You have a mama and daddy that already love their princess fiercely. You have two big brothers who are going to spend the rest of their lives looking out for you. And you, my girl, you are going to rule the world.
I met Cate at a good friend’s bridal shower and again at the wedding. I enjoyed our conversations, and we briefly discussed the subject of photography. I was excited when she asked me to do extended family photos last Christmas, but even more excited when she told me this summer that she was expecting and wanted to book a package for the new baby. As we rolled into 2019, we stayed in close contact as the plan went from hopes of a VBAC to a planned cesarean, and that date was shifted a few times.
On February 1st, Cate and Jerry welcomed a very happy and healthy Penelope Jane into the world. She was 19.5 inches long and weighed 6 lbs 11.8oz, and is already adored by so many. I got the chance to meet her the morning after her birth, when she was about 20 hours old. I found that she likes being warm and snuggled and is a good sleeper as long as you don’t unwrap her. I can’t say that I blame her; I don’t like to be cold either!
I was thrilled to spend time documenting her with her mommy and daddy and two big brothers, who are only 22 months older than sweet Penelope. Cate and Jerry, I know you will have your hands full, but I also know that these three are going to fill your lives with so much love and laughter. I feel privileged that you’ve invited me in as a witness to your lives and as a friend. I’m looking forward to documenting and celebrating Penelope’s baptism and watching your family as they grow.
