Hannah is turning one! When mama, Lauren, chose me to document Hannah’s Winne the Pooh themed cake smash, I could not wait to bring her vision of Hannah’s Hundred Acre Woods to life. Winnie the Pooh is a classic that I grew up with and have taken the time to introduce to my boys as they grow. Lauren and Adam have accumulated a collection of the original plush characters and everyone was in tow for a beautiful evening at Downs Park in Pasadena, Maryland.
Hannah was darling in her sweet Winnie the Pooh dress and the light was beautiful as it streamed through the trees so we captured a few family portraits before preparing for cake.
Hannah was fascinated by her beautiful beehive cake, which was lovingly created by a family friend. This was her first taste of cake and she took her time exploring the texture of the the icing as her friends, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore looked on. She loved drumming on the cake and bouncing to some music as we celebrated.
I loved when she decided to really go all in for that delicious cake!
“Well, Piglet, I asked you if you wanted some before I dug in!”
After Hannah had had her fill, she changed into a sweet Lilly Pulitzer dress and mom and I hung out in the Hundred Acre Woods while dad cleaned up the aftermath.
And then, as the sun sank lower in the sky behind us, we headed down to the beach for salty waves, sandy toes and smiles. The rocks and reeds of Downs Park always make a picturesque setting, and we enjoyed the cool evening breeze.
The sugar rush started to wear off and Hannah let us know with a yawn that bedtime was approaching.
Wait, Hannah! That won’t taste like icing!!!
As we wrapped up our time together, we paused to admire the pink blossoms on the trees and make dandelion wishes. Childhood moments are fleeting and, for me, capturing the details freezes a moment in time.
Lauren and Adam, thank you so much for trusting me to capture this milestone for you and Hannah. You have a beautiful, joyful family and I loved spending time with you. I look forward to watching Hannah grow!
