When your family only gets together twice a year, you must take the time to document it! I was overjoyed when Stephanie called me to book an extended family session while her parents and brother’s family would be in town. Being December, we did a lot of watching the forecast and discussing locations and I think all were happy that we settled on Downs Park in Pasadena, Maryland as the perfect backdrop for their family photos.
Stephanie, Derric, Quinn and Bo live locally in Annapolis, Maryland. Grandma, Paw Paw, Phil, Jackie, Hank and Theo were all visiting from St. Louis, and Hank, who is 6 years old, quickly declared that he had never seen a beach before and was thrilled to see the water meet the sand.
It was just a little chilly, but a beautiful evening when we met on the beach at Downs Park and Grandma and Paw Paw were taking great delight in their grandchildren’s smiles and having their whole family together.
When asked who had the stinkiest feet in the family, I think it was unanimous – sorry, Paw Paw!
The rocks at Downs Park always make for a picturesque setting, and mustaches made for family fun!
In my mind, there is nothing better than documenting kids being kids and what a special opportunity this was to document cousins who only see each other from time to time. Quinn, Hank and Theo played together like best friends and as if they hadn’t spent a day apart in their lives.
To Steve and Phyllis, Stephanie and Derric, Phil and Jackie – thank you so much for trusting me to document this time in your lives, this family gathering that is so special for you. I loved spending time with you all, watching the kiddos bond and play and I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to capture your family photos again soon!
