Rachel and Craig planned their wedding for September 30th, 2022, an intimate private ceremony, surrounded by their families at a waterfront property in Annapolis. When I met them there on Friday afternoon, Rachel was having finishing touches done on her hair and makeup, and appeared to be happy and relaxed as she prepared for the evening. Craig also seemed to be filled with an inner joy and peace as he spent time with his daughter and his father, waiting to get dressed in his suit for the evening ceremony . . .

When Lauren first reached out to me about documenting her wedding, it was planned to be an Annapolis courthouse wedding. Her family would be waiting to greet the newlyweds outside of the courthouse (as guests were still not permitted inside) and she was hoping to capture some beautiful family photos in downtown Annapolis.

Father’s Day 2020 is just around the corner. This year has certainly put a strain on small and local businesses, and there are lots of ways to celebrate Dad and keep your dollars local. While people are starting to wander out into the world (hopefully cautiously), many businesses and entrepreneurs will be feeling the effects of the COVID19 pandemic for a long time. Who we buy from now will decide who’s standing later. When we are considering our gifts for those special dads in our lives, let’s think about the small businesses from Annapolis to Baltimore (and the surrounding cities) that we want to see stick around for years to come.

Mother’s Day 2020 is fast approaching. With COVID-19 remaining a threat and current social distancing guidelines in place, it’s not possible for most of us to browse our local stores for that perfect Mother’s Day gift. Most of us are already accustomed to shopping online, so it doesn’t mean that finding an amazing Mother’s Day gift isn’t possible. But shopping local and shopping small have become even more important, given how many small businesses have needed to close their doors (if they own a storefront) or had to stop offering their services if they weren’t an essential business. Photography is a luxury service that many moms would love to have more of. More than once I’ve been told, let me have your business card so I can drop a hint to my husband for a Mother’s Day gift. Many photographers have had to reschedule sessions for now. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t get the perfect Mother’s Day gift and support your family photographer . . .

We are safe at home and the front porch pictures have become quite the trend for many reasons. Our houses are the center of our lives and our families, and now so more than ever.

On Sunday, September 22nd, 2109, Penelope Jane was baptized and welcomed into the community at St. Mary’s Parish in Annapolis, Maryland.

Penelope Jane, do you know how much you are already loved? You have a mama and daddy that already love their princess fiercely. You have two big brothers who are going to spend the rest of their lives looking out for you. And you, my girl, you are going to rule the world . . .

This is going to be a little different than my usual posts . . . 

I know how hard it can be to be in the thick of things, with two toddlers running around like wild animals. I know how it feels to cry with them when we’re all having a hard day. I know what it’s like to feel like a terrible mom because I yelled because I was overtired, overwhelmed and stressed and they pushed all my buttons. I know how easy it is to forget that I am doing the best I can. I also know that I have the best job in the world as their mommy and that that can be hard to remember in the thick of things.
