Jeff and Ashley are a fellow homeschool family who I first met when they popped in for homeschool school portraits just over a year ago. I feel blessed to have gotten known Ashley even more as our children played and learned together at a homeschool co-op this past year, and I was so happy for […]
Sweet Theo John was born on April 24th at 5:41am, weighing in at 5 lbs 15 oz and measuring 18.5 inches. When Carly and I first talked about maternity and newborn photos, she had told me that she was due June 2 but that baby Maeva, her first baby, came at 37 weeks and so she expected this baby to be here around Mother’s Day. Carly and Matt were not prepared for what their second child had in store for them . . .
Melissa and Joe welcomed their third baby boy on the evening of Saturday, November 11th. Wade is just so sweet, and it was apparent that they are overjoyed with their newest addition to the family. I was fortunate to meet Melissa when our boys were in a playgroup together, in the Severna Park Mom’s Club, a few years ago, and I am grateful that she chose me to document this milestone for their family.
Meredith and Fabrice have been inviting me into their home in Washington, D.C. to capture their family photos for years, and it’s been an honor to watch as their family has grown and changed over those years. From the days of their first maternity session with their 3 rescue pups to their life as parents of two, every photo session has been about capturing life as it really is, in an environment that is comfortable for the whole family.
Skye Harper arrived just in time, on October 25 at 7:28am, just over 8 lbs of pure perfection. Just like big sister, Isla, Skye is named for one of Scotland’s magical islands. I could not wait to document those tiny fingers and toes at her newborn photo session in their home in Pasadena, Maryland, and I arrived at their house when she was just a week old to capture all those little details and all of the love that surrounds both of Jen and Will’s girls. There was extra love in the house that day, as Aunt Caroline soaked up some sweet baby snuggles and big sister’s giggles . . .
The Reynolds’ family regular family gatherings were interrupted, as so many lives were, by COVID19 and so Nancy and Tom were thrilled to have their four daughters and their families at their home for a 4th of July family fun week this summer. Nancy wanted to take the opportunity to document this time in their lives in photos, and I was given the honor of capturing these moments the day after the holiday at Nancy and Tom’s home in Annapolis, Maryland . . .
I feel so fortunate to have the ability to homeschool my boys, and even more blessed that it leads me to meet people like Meghan and her beautiful, intelligent girls, Gabi and Camilla. I am even more fortunate that Meghan trusts me to capture photos of her family, and decided to gift her mother a family session with me, from her and her brothers . . .
Cake smashes are some of my favorite sessions, because they are a celebration of life, of a little human life’s first trip around the sun. What joy has this little life brought to all of the other lives they have touched in their first 365 days, what parts of other lives has this little sunshine lit up?
Victoria, I can tell by the light in your mamma’s eyes when she looks at you, that you have brought so much joy to your family . . .
Throughout these years that the Aviles family has given me the honor of taking their photos, we’ve done family sessions at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, and multiple beach family photo sessions in Ocean City, Maryland. This year, they decided to capture their family moments at their family home in northern Virginia. If you’re familiar with my photography, or have spoken to me about photo sessions, you may know that your family home is my favorite place to capture family photos and this session did not disappoint . . .
When baby Natalia arrived on August 29th, more than two weeks early, her mama was not at all surprised. Born 7 lbs, 7 oz and with a head full of thick, dark hair, this girl was ready for the world and she knew it.
And from the smiles, the quiet moments and the contented sighs that I witnessed at her in home newborn session in Washington, D.C., her family was ready for her as well . . .
